Description

This is my second attempt of ground-based thermal imaging.

The Thermal Cam is now closer to the second mirror positioned

and I used an extension cable to interface with the iPad.

Thermal imaging with a telescope is only possible with Newton - type telescopes,

because thermal wavelengths can reflect on metallic surfaces

but would not pass regular optical lenses etc.

The Seek thermal cam is therefore directly exposed to the second mirror of the Dobson telescope.

The images show the apparent temperature in celsius, not corrected by the atmospheric

spectral correction factor.

This would require a rather complicated process of calibration and test equipment.

Moon surface temperature range is 200° - 300° Kelvin

Thermal cam resolution : 207 x 156 pixel

pixel size : 12 um

wavelengths between. : 7.2 and 13 microns
